I began working with the various versions of the Unreal Engine in 2003. I made several levels that I used as a method to improve my ability and comfort with the editor.

In November 2005 I met up with Jos 'Sjosz' Hendriks and the team at UCMP which fast-forwarded my progress immensely. I released the first level I was truly proud of: DM-TCMP-Gilles. Gilles was received well by the community and received 7.5/10 reviews at both Insite and Nalicity. Later, Gilles was voted one of the "Best of 2006" by Mapraider.com.

In early 2006 I joined UCMP as a beta tester for their UCMP3 map pack. During the development of UCMP3 I was exposed to the importance of being able to give and receive quality feedback. UCMP3 also introduced me to working with tight deadlines, albeit in a beta tester capacity.

In August of 2006, UCMP began development of their final map pack for UT2004. I submitted a level that Michael 'BIOS' Schorr and myself had been collaborating on. During the development phase of UCMP4 I was introduced to working under tight deadlines as a level designer and being able to receive constant feedback from a team environment of industry professionals. In February 2007 we released UCMP4, which included the level DM-UCMP4-Elucidation that Michael and myself had teamed up to create.

I truly enjoyed the experience of working with the UCMP team to create UCMP4. I look forward to potential future endeavors with Unreal Engine 3 and Unreal Tournament 3.

As of today, level design has been a hobby which I hope will turn into a career as games and level design is my passion. Having the opporunity to create beautiful environments full-time for gamers to blow each other up in would hardly seem like work to me.

For the past 12 years I have worked in retail management for companies such as Wal-Mart, Circuit City, The Home Depot and Ross. I believe that this experience is beneficial to me in my aspirations to join the game industry. As a manager I understand, and enjoy, the difficulty and challenges that can present themselves while creating a highly motivated team working towards a common goal. My management experience has allowed me to enhance my communication skills which is essential to leading a team, and has given me many opportunities to provide feedback to peers as well as team members.

Currently I am seeking full-time employment as a level designer for a game studio which will allow me to turn my passion for games into a career. I have experience using the Unreal Engine (v2.5), Maya 5 and Photoshop CS. I have created assets for my levels as needed and understand the unreal asset art pipeline.

If any game studios are interested, please contact me via email.
